Wrexham Diocese had yet to be created in 1962. Therefore, for the purposes of the celebration of Mass and the Divine Office using the Extraordinary Form liturgical books, we use the calendar that was in place in the Menevia Diocese in 1962 and from whose territory Wrexham was created in 1987.
The calendar for Menevia in 1962:
Of note is that the ‘new post 1987 Menevia’, designated St Joseph’s, Swansea as their Cathedral with a dedication date of the 7th December 1987 – but in 1962 that was 25 years in the future. So on paper, in the old calendar, Menevian's keep the feast of their original Cathedral, Our Lady of Sorrows in Wrexham (which became the seat of the Bishops of Wrexham in 1987) but not their subsequent Cathedral church St Joseph’s, Swansea.
