Salvation, if it is the Holy Name of Jesus! Reverence for this Name is urged in the Introit of the Mass this Sunday (3rd January).
Heaven is promised to those who venerate It on earth (Prayer). Miracles have been wrought by invoking this Name (Epistle). The watchword of Christianity and the call to Christian action are found in this Name (Gradual). The Eternal Father bestowed this Name through His Angel, thereby indicating the work Jesus was to do (Gospel).
Each Christian must glorify this Name of mercy in his own private life (Offertory). The Mass today is a sacrifice of praise to the majesty of this Name (Secret).
"All the nations" will one day come to acknowledge this Name (Communion), which was written in letters of indelible red on the parchment of His Flesh that our names might be written in heaven (Postcommunion). Form the habit of reverently saying "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph."
“Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord, Thy God, in vain.”
